As you can see, to the left of this is a photo of a tenor steel pan with the notes superimposed. Here is a kind of 'Pan Technicals for Dummies'.

Although you can't see them all here, most tenor pans have 29 notes, the lowest being D3 (the D just to the right of middle C on a piano) and the highest F#5.

To create a basic pan arrangement, the minimum range of commonly used pans are Tenor, (Double Second,) Double Guitar, (Four Pans) and Six Pan Bass plus regular percussion instruments. This is just a rough guide as it depends on the availability of the pans and the people to play them.

How to get to Glissando Panyard

The panyard is adjacent to the Venture Centre.
Buses 52, 70 and 23 stop on the corner of Bassett Road. Cross Ladbroke Grove and walk up the Golborne Road turning left into Wornington Road

The nearest tube stations are Westbourne Park and Ladbroke Grove on the Hammersmith and City line.
